Sharbat-e Anar (شربت انار) is a refreshing and tangy Persian drink made from pomegranate juice, sugar, and a hint of rosewater. This sweet and tart sharbat is a popular cooling beverage, especially enjoyed during hot summer days, festive gatherings, and Yalda Night (the Persian winter solstice celebration). It is often served over ice or mixed with sparkling water for a fizzy twist.
Sharbat-e Anar has been a cherished Persian beverage for centuries, with origins tracing back to ancient Persia, where fruit-based sharbats were commonly enjoyed for refreshment and health benefits.
Pomegranates, known as "Anar" in Persian, have long been a symbol of fertility, life, and abundance in Persian culture. This drink became particularly popular during Yalda Night (Shab-e Yalda), the Persian winter solstice celebration, where families gather to share pomegranates, nuts, and poetry.
Over time, Sharbat-e Anar became a year-round favorite, served in traditional Persian tea houses, weddings, and summer gatherings. Today, it remains a beloved Persian sharbat, enjoyed for both its delicious taste and vibrant cultural significance.

- 2 cups fresh pomegranate juice (or store-bought, unsweetened)
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup water
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice (for balance)
- 1 tbsp rosewater (optional, for floral aroma)
